LEARNING OBJECTIVES
English Essentials
FND:

ability to understand verbal and written “survival English”

ability to comprehend short reading passages

ability to construct simple sentences

ability to understand and participate in short, basic conversations

LEVEL 1:

ability to understand and participate in basic, everyday conversation

ability to comprehend simple reading passages on a variety of topics

ability to construct sentences and short compositions

LEVEL 2:

ability to give basic advice, and to express opinions, experiences and observations

ability to comprehend 2-3 page reading passages on a variety of topics

ability to construct paragraphs

ability to understand conversations and listening passages dealing with common topics and situations

LEVEL 3:

ability to express ideas and opinions in greater detail, solve problems, and make decisions

ability to understand, analyze, and infer meaning from a variety of reading passages

ability to write basic essays

ability to comprehend complex listening passages containing varied of speech patterns

Skill Development Certificate Classes

Who:  All Levels
When:  3:10-4:00 Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday

  • Learn REAL English for REAL life situations.
  • Learn practical English in an academic environment.
  • Attend 8 sessions and receive a certificate.
  • Receive a Skill Development Student Handbook outlining important vocabulary and structured lessons.

Skill Extension Classes

Who:  English Advanced Level 4, English Elite Levels 5 & 6
When:  3:10-4:00 Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday

  • Extend yourself and maximize your learning potential.
  • 4 different skill extension classes focusing on 4 core classes.
  • More student-teacher interaction with opportunities for open discussion.

 

English Elite and Project Days

Who:  English Elite Levels 5& 6
When:  9:00am-3:00pm Monday-Friday (classes finish at 2:30pm on Fridays)
Project Days:  Wednesdays and Thursdays

  • A project based 2 month course (Level 5-2 months & Level 6-2 months) that will utilize the existing curriculum 3 days per week and 2 days a week with a project day.
  • Become a leader at KGIC.
  • Conduct interviews, hone research skills and learn from guest speakers.

 

English Lounge

Who:  All Levels
When:  3:10-4:00 Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday

  • Small communications class where students speak 90% and teachers 10%
  • Pronunciation element focusing on overcoming speaking challenges
  • Integration of aspects of KGIC’s power speaking program to overcome the fear of public speaking
